Digitization of “Human Infrastructure”…or…Enterprise Systems/Apps: Which Should Take Priority?

There are plenty of positive discussions in the networking groups I follow regarding the shift to the cloud for digital integration across Enterprise Systems, Business Apps, and APIs. This is all good news, but I must ask this question – “What about the digitization supporting the “human infrastructure” tasked to perform effectively using this digitized business infrastructure at the Point-of-work?” Is the answer a chicken or egg debate? It’s Time to Go Ninja!

Who “woulda thunk it” possible to be swept up…or is swept out more appropriate…into the chaos of three corporate downsizing events in less than seven years? Could that even happen to the same guy? Oh, but yes it can…and it has. You’re reading his words right now. January 26th is when I will be jettisoned through the window of opportunity yet again. The frequency of being jettisoned could cause one to pause and reflect, asking “Why me?” and question “What did I do? …or not do?”  The first time around, I went through the routine stages of the grieving process. The second time…not as much. This time around…I get it. It’s time to go Ninja!

The path to shifting a long-held training paradigm to a holistic learning and performance paradigm is not a task for the faint-of-heart. Trust me on this…I have the scars to prove it. The greatest challenge I encountered in my own journey reveals there is more Change Leadership related implications than anything else. To compound that challenge, defining a “how to” road map is a tough nut to crack because every single deployment…then implementation…then fully enabling sustained adoption… is unique to the organization making the climb to the summit. When Are MOOCs Not MOOCs?

This post this likely to twist a knot in a few knickers, but hey…what’s a few knots now and then, so buckle up…this might nudge you beyond the limits of a training paradigm. Traditionally, a MOOC, in academic circles, is known as a Massive Open Online Course…and I have no problem with that. Where I get torqued down tight is when corporate Training tries to emulate an academic MOOC with corporate learning content. When that happens, corporate L&D potentially misses the boat. Read more…
