False Competency & the Perfect Hole

I wonder…if we started measuring the knowledge we transfer during training that is forgotten before our learners have the chance to apply it…if that metric would influence the decision to keep on training the way we do? Seriously, would we keep spending upwards of 80% of our training resources on creating and delivering training events?
