Boxed in By Technology?

Have you ever noticed how entrenched technology…and even some methodology…are accepted as the rule or the standard and innovation around those rules and standards get kind of…locked down? Even so, being in the “locked box” of technology, some innovation does indeed take place, but often it never exceeds the limitations of the box in which it’s locked down. Survey Said…“Enough with the E-Learning Already!”

This could be a rant…so hang onto something…

It’s funny that our recently surveyed learners told us to STOP forcing E-Learning on them when I just read someplace that E-Learning is on the rise as the solution of choice. The bastion of L&D and the E-Learning vendors are sold on e-learning as the answer it seems. Either our recently on-boarded performers (learners) that we surveyed at the Point-of-Work are whacked, or the folks who are supposed to be on the bleeding edge of developing effective learning solutions are smoking something. Call It Anything But Performance Support

It’s known among my closest friends that I will do stupid tricks for a platter of onion rings. It’s that passion that blinded me to something that ordinarily would have scared me off when a fresh order of calamari was placed on the table in front of me. It was a group dinner kind of thing and somebody ordered appetizers without my knowledge. I popped what appeared to be an onion ring in my mouth and thought to myself, “Hmmm, that’s a bit chewy.” Read more…

Feeding the Performance Zone with EPS

If workforce competency came in a can, I’d wager someplace on the label you would find Embedded Performer Support [EPS] with a mix of Performer Support [PS] assets listed as active ingredients. When EPS is not included in the effort to feed [develop and sustain] the workforce with a balanced performance diet, you’re probably only looking at a 16-ounce can of Training. Training serves as a great appetizer, but the main course may reside on a buffet where the Performer can choose from a mix of choices based upon the nature of their hunger [moment of need].
